Day #10: Toys

#10: Toys

When I turned about 12 years old, I felt I needed to grow up a little. Getting rid of my toys (well some of them) was step one. The only reason I got rid of some was because, well, I wasn’t popular with the ladies, and I thought toys were what was holding me back haha. As an adult, I’ve been rebuying the toys I had when I was a child and more! A few years ago when I was laid off, I took it upon myself to sort my toys. I’ve got toys all over the house as decorations on the tv stand, window sills, and on top of my book shelves. I actually have a bookshelf in the kitchen to display all of my funko pops (well not all of them... I have way too many for just one shelf). I display as many as I can, but the rest are in totes in the basement. Here are some of the figures I have: Marvel, DC, WWE, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Star Wars, Digimon, Dragon Ball Z, Pokémon, Ben 10, a few Transformers, as well as a bunch of other stuff. I rarely keep toys in the packaging. The few I have was so I could hang them on the wall. In the library, I have some unopened Game of Thrones figures, Rugrats, some Japanese Pokémon figures, and a Star Lord from The Guardians of the Galaxy movie. I have a few high end collectible statues from Bowen and Sideshow. I can’t really display any of those because my cats love to knock shit over, and this stuff is breakable and expensive. I’m not sure why I love toys so much. They are kind of the reason I started to write. I had this ongoing story I had going with my toys. It involved characters in different areas, fighting different people, and everyday I would basically pick up where I left off the day before. Then I just started writing them down, and here I am now. I’m excited to have kids someday, and I hope they can play with my toys.

Everyday I will be posting an entry in my writing challenge 100 Days which has been collected into a print collection. If you are interested in purchasing a print collection: http://www.lulu.com/shop/austin-hamblin/100-days/paperback/product-23916414.html
